With the arrival of Spring, the promise of Summer is right on the horizon and grooming is more important than ever in these warmer months.
Keeping your dog well groomed isn't just about keeping their appearance tidy. Good grooming practices can
✔ Help your dog regulate their temperature
✔ Help to avoid & manage external parasite infestations
✔ Help keep your dog's skin healthy
✔ Help keep your dog comfortable
For coated breeds, we recommend a good quality comb and regular line combing. This will help minimise shedding on the furniture, keep tangles at bay, keep the coat open to allow insulation and give you the opportunity to check their skin over in the process.

NEVER shave or clip Double Coated breeds, except for during a medical emergency. With a regular grooming schedule, you can easily maintain their glorious Double Coat year round, and not only does it protect them from the summer sun, it also helps insulate them from the heat!
A good brush is perfect for in-between combs, to keep the coat shiny and free from debris. The right brush depends on the type and length of your dogs coat and your personal grooming preferences.
WE LOVE THESE BRUSHES WITH A DIFFERENCE
Greyhound Triangle Pin Brush

Greyhound Palm Pad
A pin brush that moulds to the shape of your hand.
Greyhound Pro-Slicker X Long Pin
Extra long pins, make this perfect for double coated breeds.
Don’t forget to clip your dog’s nails every 1-2 weeks too! This is super important for the comfort of your dog, as well as allowing them to maintain good balance. If you have difficulties using nail clippers, you can use a nail grinder like the Show Toes Mobile Nail Grinder. Alternatively, most groomers and vet clinics offer nail clipping services.
If you are unable to thoroughly bath and groom your dog yourself, then we recommend arranging a regular grooming schedule with your local groomer. Most breeds would benefit from a trip to the groomer every 4 to 8 weeks.
Grooming your dog doesn’t need to be stressful. It’s a great way to bond with your dog and with training and patience, it can be an activity you both enjoy, together!
